The world is still mourning the untimely passing of beloved comedian Robin Williams. The actor was known for his quick wit, kind disposition and a particular fast-paced style of improvisation which changed the world of acting entirely.
Williams was no stranger to drama, stand-up, or even musicals, and he participated in several animated flicks such as Aladdin (1992), in which he played the dearly cherished Genie, or Happy Feet (2006), in which he continued to surprise us all with his wide range of voices and unique characters.
Yesterday, actor James Monroe Iglehart, who plays the Genie on Broadway’s screen-to-stage adaptation of Aladdin, invited the audience to sing part of Friend Like Me as a tribute to Williams. It’s a wonderful and touching goodbye to our Genie we wish we didn’t have to see under such circumstances.
