First, we have exciting news from the stage-to-screen adaptation of Jersey Boys. According to Deadline, actor Christopher Walken will be amongst the few Hollywood stars to participate in Clint Eastwood’s feature film. Walken will play Angelo Gyp DeCarlo, a role played on stage by Mark Lotito and Stuart Milligan.
Walken is no stranger to movie musicals, since he’s participated in Pennies from Heaven in 1981 and, more recently, in the 2007 film adaptation of Hairspray.
On the other hand, yesterday BWW got the scoop on the latest casting news for the stage-to-screen adaptation of Into the Woods. Here is the line-up according to the sources consulted by the site:
The roles of Jack and Little Red Ridinghood remain unconfirmed, although Daniel Huttlestone is supposedly in negotiations to play the former.
The film will have new songs penned by composer Stephen Sondheim, and will start shooting this September in London under the direction of Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine).
